Further to the Press Release on the aircraft incidents that took place today, February 26, 2026, at Mathews Ridge, Region One, involving the Air Services Limited aircraft that landed on the prepared surface and overran onto the unprepared surface resulting in a punctured tire to the left landing gear, the Guyana Civil Aviation Authority has suspended the privileges of the licence of the ASL pilot pending a full investigation.

GCAA’s preliminary report revealed that the ASL pilot operated outside of the provisions of the Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) issued on October 23, 2025.

The Government of Guyana, through the GCAA, had issued a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) on October 23, 2025, advising pilots to exercise heightened caution during approach, landing, and take-off at the Mathews Ridge runway, which is currently undergoing upgrades. As standard operating procedures, all air operators require their pilots to acknowledge and sign all NOTAMs to ensure full compliance. This is executed during pre-flight for their awareness.

The GCAA remains steadfast in its commitment to conducting a thorough investigation of both incidents to uphold the highest standards of aviation safety.
