Police in Regional Division # 3 are investigating an alleged murder which occurred on Sunday March 1, 2026, between 19:30hrs and 19:45hrs at a shop located at Lust-En-Rust, La Parfaite Harmonie, West Bank Demerara, resulting in the death of Joel Anthony Tamesar, 28, a construction worker of La Parfaite Harmonie.

Preliminary investigations revealed that the deceased was at the shop when the suspect, a 38-year-old male also of La Parfaite Harmonie, entered the premises. An altercation reportedly ensued between the two men, during which the suspect allegedly armed himself with a knife and inflicted a stab wound to the left side of the deceased’s chest before fleeing the scene in a southern direction.

The injured man was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital by public-spirited citizens, where he succumbed to his injuries while receiving medical treatment.

The body was subsequently escorted to the Ezekiel Funeral Home, where it awaits a post-mortem examination.

Police later arrested the suspect at Lust-En-Rust, where he was found hiding in a trench. He is presently in police custody assisting with investigations.

Investigations are ongoing.
