Unemployed man accused of beating wife granted $25,000 bail

Magistrate Clive Nurse has granted 42-year-old Mortimer McLean bail in the sum of $25,000 when he appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday on an assault charge.
The defendant, who pleaded not guilty to the charge, is a resident of Lot 53 Self Help Housing Scheme, Amelia’s Ward, Mackenzie, Linden. The charge brought against the unemployed father of four read that he unlawfully assaulted his reputed wife Kean Etienne, with whom he resides, on January 26.
He was instructed by Magistrate Nurse to find an alternative place of abode until the conclusion of the trial to which he agreed. The case will continue on March 8.
