Vice President Dr Bharrat Jagdeo has announced that Commissioner of Police Clifton Hicken will be held responsible for the uninsured and illegally driven Lamborghini driven by US-indicted Azruddin Mohamed to Parliament on Monday.
Mohamed was taken before the courts for allegedly undervaluing the Lamborghini and submitting falsified documentation to the Guyana Revenue Authority (GRA), to evade taxes.
Nevertheless, at the opening of the 13th Parliament on Monday, Mohamed arrived in the Lamborghini, which, according to Jagdeo, does not have any insurance.

During a press conference on Thursday, the Vice President reminded that to drive on the road without insurance is an offence and highlighted that if an ordinary citizen is caught doing so, they would be in big trouble.
“If you hit down someone on the road without insurance, you’re in big trouble,” Jagdeo highlighted.
In this regard, Jagdeo contended that Mohamed drove the vehicle to the Parliament to show that he can break the law and get away with it.
“This is a criminal behaviour and he is flaunting it in people’s face,” Jagdeo lamented.
“What he’s saying is, ‘I can steal, I can evade taxes, I can buy off people in the police, the GRA, or the courts and get away with it.’ That’s the message.”

In this regard, he announced that, “I would hold Hicken, the Commissioner of Police personally responsible if a child of anyone gets hit down on the road and gets killed or maimed by that Lamborghini when it’s on the road.”
“Nobody else could do that, not a single person in the country could do that sort of thing, because it’s illegal…Hicken should be held personally responsible for that,” Jagdeo added.
