Taxi Driver bailed on $1M fraud charge

court[www.inewsguyana.com] – Thirty – four – year old Suresh Singh was today granted $120,000 bail after he pleaded not guilty to a fraudulently convergent charge before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine – Beharry.

It is alleged that on October 07 at Third Avenue, Bartica, being solely entrusted by Pamela Hussain with the sum of $1M for fuel and groceries, he fraudulently converted the sum to his own use and benefit.

The unrepresented defendant requested bail on his behalf after pleading with the Court that he would usually work for Hussain as a taxi driver. He stated that other than traffic matters, this is his first time in Court to answer such a charge.

Police Prosecutor, Michael Grant did not object to bail. Surety was granted to him under the condition that he report to the Bartica Police Station every Friday at 18:00hrs.

However, the matter was transferred to the Bartica Magistrate’s Court for October 16.
