Take advantage of growing economic opportunities – Walrond tells cops

The Guyana Police Force (GPF) in collaboration with the Georgetown Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GCCI) hosted a Personal and Professional Development Symposium with Officers on Thursday last at the Officers’ Mess Annexe Eve Leary, Georgetown, under the theme: “Empowered Beyond the Badge: Advancing Leadership, Financial Resilience & Professional Excellence”.

Commissioner Clifton Hicken welcomed attendees, framing the symposium as a holistic investment in officers’ futures covering finance, post-service planning, public relations, customer care, and health.”

The GCCI president, Kathy Smith thanked Commissioner for his proactive approach towards the symposium, highlighting the importance of collaboration towards building a foundation of success for officers in every aspect including both personal and professional life during their service and post-service.

Minister of Home Affairs Oneidge Walrond encouraged officers to take advantage of Guyana’s growing economic opportunities, focusing more on long-term benefits while being in the public sector. Meanwhile Minister Zulfikar Ally highlighted that the Guyana Development Bank is accessible to every Guyanese including members of the Force to invest in future endeavours.

Over the course of the day, officers took part in facilitative discussions centred on core developmental competencies, including leadership development, entrepreneurial thinking, financial planning, and other strategically relevant subjects
