A security guard attached to a city security firm is expected to appear in the Springlands Magistrate’s Court, Corriverton, Region Six (East Berbice-Corentyne) today on a drug trafficking charge, after he was nabbed at Moleson Creek, Berbice with a quantity of marijuana yesterday morning.
Members of the Customs Anti-Narcotics Unit (CANU), in Corriverton, arrested Gordon Xavier, 48, at Moleson Creek as he was attempting to board the MV Canawaima, which plies the Guyana-Suriname route.
Reports are that CANU officers observed that Xavier was operating in a suspicious manner and conducted a search on his person during which they found concealed in a transparent plastic bag in his pocket, 16 grams of the illegal drug.
He was told of the offence and arrested.
