Police investigated reports of suspected Trafficking in Persons (TIP) activities following a joint exercise conducted between 23:30hrs on Sunday April 12, 2026 and 00:15hrs on Monday April 13, 2026, at a building located at Diamond, East Bank Demerara.
The exercise was carried out by ranks of the Guyana Police Force Headquarters and Regional Division 4 ‘B’, along with personnel from the Ministry of Home Affairs.
Acting on information received, the team visited the building, where seventeen Venezuelan female nationals were contacted and screened for indicators of Trafficking in Persons.
The screening process revealed no indicators of Trafficking in Persons and the individuals were subsequently sent away.
The premises were searched; however, nothing illegal was found. No arrests were made.
