Pensioner lands in Court over forgery of Transport

Fitz Lewis, a pensioner of First Street, Cummings Lodge, East Coast Demerara (ECD) appeared before the Georgetown Magistrates’ Courts on Monday to answer to a charge of forging a transport.

The senior citizen denied the charge, which was read to him by Chief Magistrate Ann McLennan.

The charge alleged that between November 1, 2003 and November 30, 2003 at Georgetown, with intent to defraud, he conspired with persons to forge transport 380 of 1981.

Lewis’ Attorney, Roger Yearwood, requested bail on the ground that his client poses no risk of flight.

According Yearwood, Police ranks visited his client’s home and informed him that he is wanted at the Brickdam Police Station in relation to the said matter upon which he contacted his lawyer who accompanied him to the station.

The pensioner was released on G$50,000 bail and was ordered to return to court on August 31.
