Police in Regional Division # 7 are continuing investigations into the alleged murder of Moses Chapelle, called “Bizo,” which occurred on Thursday April 23, 2026 about 21:30hrs, at Blackwater Backdam, Cuyuni River.

As investigations progressed, a 45-year-old gold miner of Company Road, Buxton, East Coast Demerara, remains in police custody in connection with the matter.

Further enquiries led ranks on Sunday April 26, 2026 about 16:20hrs, to locations at Blackwater Landing, Cuyuni River, where two firearms were recovered, namely an AM-15 rifle and a .32 pistol, along with two magazines containing forty-two (42) live .223 rounds, one magazine containing four (4) live .32 rounds, one 9mm magazine, seventy (70) live .223 rounds and forty-eight (48) live 9mm rounds.

The recovered items were taken into police custody, where they were lodged and form part of the ongoing investigation.

Investigations are continuing.
