A 35-year-old pastor is now in police custody following an accusation made against him by a female member of his congregation alleging that he raped her at his Diamond, East Bank Demerara home last month.
According to information received, the man, who is said to be attached to a Full Gospel Church, had provided counselling to the young adult and her mother two years ago, after the passing of their loved one.
However, the young lady told police that sometime last month, he invited her to his home and committed the act.
He was reportedly arrested on Thursday evening.
Investigations are ongoing.
