Police in Regional Division #3 are investigating an alleged murder committed on Nicolas Boyce, a 38-year-old security officer of La Retraite, West Bank Demerara, following an alleged stabbing incident on Friday October 30, 2026, between 21:00hrs and 22:30hrs at La Retraite Public Road, West Bank Demerara.
Preliminary investigations revealed that Boyce was at a shop situated in front of his home, where his 31-year-old common-law wife was attending to customers, when an argument reportedly ensued between them.
During the argument, Boyce allegedly assaulted his common-law wife, after which three male customers intervened. Boyce reportedly pulled a knife from his pocket and the men began pushing him away.
Police ranks visited the location, where Boyce was found lying motionless in a pool of blood with a suspected stab wound to the left side of his neck.
A knife was recovered a short distance from where his body was found and lodged as investigations continue.
Boyce was escorted to the West Demerara Regional Hospital, where he was pronounced dead on arrival by a doctor on duty.
His common-law wife was also taken to the hospital for medical attention. Her condition is stable.
Following the incident, a 38-year-old male of La Retraite Backdam, West Bank Demerara, who was present at the location, was arrested and placed into custody.
CCTV cameras were observed in the area and will be reviewed as part of the ongoing investigation.
He remains in Police custody as investigations continue.
