The Ministry of Labour and Manpower Planning Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) Department on Tuesday carried out a comprehensive inspection aboard the Noble Sam Croft drillship in the Stabroek Block.

This exercise forms part of the Ministry’s continuous efforts to ensure full compliance with the Occupational Safety and Health Act (Cap. 99:06), international safety standards, and Guyana’s Labour Laws.

The inspection was conducted by Occupational Safety and Health Officer Ms. Christa Simmons and Labour Officer Mr. Emanuel Ramdhial.

Upon arrival, the officers were welcomed by Offshore Installation Manager (OIM) Mr. Kirk Burdin, Safety Coach Mr. Tom Gill, and onboard Medic Dr. Anthony Pitamber, who guided the Ministry’s team through an extensive tour of the deep-water drill ship.

The inspection focused on key operational and welfare areas including workplace policies, work ethics, accommodation, potable water systems, waste management practices, competency checks, certifications, accident registers, and daily safety procedures.

In addition to OSH-related assessments, the officers engaged management and staff on several critical labour matters, including working conditions, overtime regulations, local content participation, turnaround times, remuneration, and the observance of national holidays with pay.

The visit also called attention to the advanced technology and high safety standards implemented aboard the Noble Sam Croft. It served as an educational engagement where both employers and employees were reminded of their legal responsibilities under the OSH Act and informed about the wide range of services offered by the Ministry of Labour.
