The Guyana Police Force’s Office of Professional Responsibility is investigating an alleged assault involving police ranks, which occurred on Friday May 8, 2026 about 00:10hrs at the Anna Regina Police Station, Region 2.
Preliminary enquiries revealed that a female rank was allegedly assaulted during an incident at the station, while another female rank was also reportedly threatened.
The matter was brought to the attention of the Region’s Senior Command and the sergeant was arrested and placed in custody pending further investigations.
The female rank was escorted to a medical institution, where she was examined by a doctor.
Statements are presently being taken and investigations are ongoing.
