The Ministry of Public Infrastructure stated earlier today that Carifesta Avenue will be closed to vehicular traffic from June 29, 2016 to July 1, 2016. This closure will be to facilitate asphalt work.
“The Ministry also wishes to inform the public that Railway Embankment, between the Eugene F. Correia Airport Access Road and UG Access Road, will also closed for the same period – June 29 to July 1, 2016″ a statement from the ministry added.
“Road users are therefore asked to use alternative bypasses for this period. Please take care to pay attention to all caution and directional signs in the area”.
The Ministry of Public Infrastructure said it regrets any inconvenience caused.

The APNU government is wasting tax payers money. There were nothing wrong with Carifesta Avenue which hardly have any traffic from as early as 5.30pm on weekdays and even sometimes during the day which is worst on weekends. Are there research to prove that this road needs redesigning? Gross incompetence, no vision and lack of wisdom on the part of APNU Government. A wise person would have spend the money to complete the the incomplete East Coast Road from Better Hope to far as far as possible or even redesign Mandela Avenue and Back Road as to what is being done to Carifesta Avenue.
