Man fined $25,000 for stealing ‘push cart’

Twenty – seven – year old Mohan Munchand of La Penitence Georgetown was fined $25,000 or an alternative of three months imprisonment when he was found guilty by Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry for the offence of simple larceny.

The facts of the case stated that on September 01 at La Penitence Public Road, he stole one ‘push cart’ valued $14,000 property of Patricia Bharrat. Without much deliberation the Magistrate noted that she took into consideration all facts which includes the aggravating factors and the prevalence of the offence and as such, instituted the fine. [Royan Abrams]
