[www.inewsguyana.com] A 21-year-old man of Bent Street, Georgetown was granted $40,000 bail on Thursday (January 9) by Magistrate Ann McLennan for allegedly stealing two cellular phones and cash from his grandmother.

Jason Prince pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on Monday, January 6 at Bent Street he stole two cellular phones and $20,000 cash together valued at $32,000, property of his grandmother Jenette Prince.

Police Prosecutor Dinero Jones told the Court that the defendant had stolen from the woman in the past and was warned by the police.

The virtual complainant said she did not recover the money, but the cellular phones were retrieved.  The Prosecutor objected to bail on the ground that he may intimidate the witness, since they live in the same house.

However, the objection was overruled and the matter was put off to January 17.
