[www.inewsguyana.com] – Lennox Stanley of Lot 75 Wismar Linden was remanded to prison by Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry for a possession of narcotics offense.
The 54 – year – old defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge which alleged that on Wednesday, November 27 at one mile Wismar Linden; he had in his possession 25 grams of cannabis-sativa (marijuana).
Police prosecutor Vernetta Pindar told the court that on the day in question; the police were conducting a mobile patrol at one mile Wismar Linden, when they observed the defendant sitting on a bench. A search was carried out on his person, which revealed a white plastic bag that fell from his left side shirt pocket.
The plastic bag was picked up and it contains a quantity of weed seeds and stem suspected to be cannabis. Bail was refused and the matter was transferred to Christianburg Magistrate’s court for, January 8.
