Eubeern Bristol called ‘Eusie’, a 39-year-old labourer of Smithfield, New Amsterdam, Berbice was today remanded to prison for the murder of Leon Fordyce which occurred on May 4 at Angoy’s Avenue.
Bristol appeared before Magistrate Michelle Mathias at the Albion Magistrates’ Court where he was not required to plead to the indictable charge.
The matter was adjourned to June 9 and was transferred to the New Amsterdam Magistrates’ Court.
Fordyce and Shawn LaFleur were murdered on May 4 during an incident at Angoy’s Avenue.
Gregory DeYoung, 26, of High Dam, Caracas, West Canje, Berbice, was charged and remanded for LaFleur’s murder. He is expected to return to court on June 2.
Police had reported that at about 22:30h on the day in question, Neon DeYoung was involved in an argument with Angelisha Newyear, about threats made by her 26-year-old son, Gregory DeYoung.
According to the police, the argument escalated and Neon DeYoung was stabbed in the abdomen, and Fordyce reportedly received a blow to his head.
Fordyce was pronounced dead on arrival at the New Amsterdam Hospital.
During the incident, LaFleur was also stabbed and was taken to the New Amsterdam Hospital before being transferred to the Georgetown Public Hospital (GPHC). However, while being transported, he too succumbed to his injuries.
Newyear, who was also stabbed, is the mother of the accused, Gregory DeYoung, and the wife of Leon Fordyce. She claims she was the intended target.
