Kitty resident found guilty of stealing, sentenced to 12 months imprisonment

[www.inewsguyana.com]Mark Mangal of Barr Street, Kitty, Georgetown, was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment by Magistrate Fabayo Azore on a break and enter charge.

He made his first appearance in Court before Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry, on September 30, and pleaded not guilty to the charge, which alleged that on September 26 at David Street Kitty Georgetown, he broke and entered the dwelling house of Paul Booker and stole a quantity of electrical items, together valued $740,000.

At the end of a trial, Magistrate Azore found the accused guilty of the offence.

In his defence, Mangal told the Court that he innocent and married with two children and cannot believe that he will serve a jail term for something he did not do.
