[www.inewsguyana.com] – Four young Guyanese who recently sat the 2014 May/June Caribbean Secondary Examination Certificate (CSEC) examinations will be honored today (December 4), in Jamaica at the regional award ceremony to be held at UWI Regional Headquarters, Mona Campus.

Guyana copped four of the eight top awards that are granted annually, including the overall top performer prize. Other top performers in the region will also be honored.

Cabinet Secretary Dr. Roger Luncheon while making the announcement yesterday, observed that Guyana has been consistent in grabbing most of the top performing awards annually.

Guyana’s Elisa Hamilton secured again the award for overall top performer and also topped Guyana with 19 grade ones and one grade two.

Other awards given to Guyanese this year were: the most outstanding performer in the field of Humanities, best top performer in Business Studies and most outstanding performance in Technical Vocational Studies.

Dr. Luncheon said Cabinet extends again its congratulations and recognizes the level of consistency year after year.

Aliyyah Abdul Kadir and Ryhan Chand of Queens College, took top regional awards for Most Outstanding in Humanities and Most Outstanding in Business Studies respectively.

Kishan Crichlow of the New Amsterdam Multilateral School was awarded the Most Outstanding Student in Technical Vocational studies.

Last year Guyana won five of the eight awards offered.
