DSC04961Thirty two year old Neon Herod of Friendship East Coast Demerara was today remanded to prison when he appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry charged with possession of a firearm and ammunition without being the holder of a license.

Herod pleaded not guilty to both offences which read that on July 11 at Coldingen, East Coast Demerara he had one firearm and a 9mm ammunition on his possession.

The Court was told that on the day in question, the police acting on information went to a Chinese restaurant at Coldingen, when they saw the accused and two other men.

The accused was stopped and search when the police found the gun and ammunition in a bag which he had on his possession. The Magistrate refused bail and Herod is to reappear in court on July 18. [Royan Abrams]
