Premchand Manman, a 42-year-old taxi driver of Lot 44 Bush Lot Essequibo Coast, has been fined $150,000 for driving under the influence of alcohol on Monday, March 10, 2025, along the Anna Regina Public Road.
Manman was slapped with the offence of ‘Driving Motor Vehicle Whilst Breath Alcohol Level Exceed the Prescribed Limit,’ Contrary to Section 39 (A) 1 of the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Act, chapter 51:02, as amended by the Motor Vehicle and Road Traffic Amendment Act 17/2022,
The case was heard at Suddie Magistrate’s Court on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, before Her Worship, Ms. Tamieka Clarke.
Manman changed his plea from ‘not guilty’ to ‘guilty’ and was fined $150,000 or an alternative of three (3) months imprisonment.
