[www.inewsguyana.com]The three day trial match between Johnson XI and Barnwell XI organized by the Demerara Cricket Board (DCB) and played at the Everest Cricket Club ground, ended in a drawn result yesterday.

Barnwell’s XI, ended last Thursday’s first day play on 359 for 9 with skipper Christopher Barnwell unbeaten on 105 and Kellon Carmichael 1.

The side had to wait 48 hours before resuming their innings, after overnight and early morning showers prevented any play on the second day on the second day, Friday.

However when play was possible, the side moved to 369 from 71.4 overs, before Barnwell departed for 116.

On the other end of things, Jhonson 11 had a miserable time at the start losing the wicket of Shemroy Barrington but the combined efforts of their deep batting and a spirited performance from Amazon warriors captain Ramnaresh Sarwan saw them through the day.

Meanwhile, the DCB Selection panel met immediately after the game to select the Demerara squad which will contest the Guyana Cricket Board (GCB) four day competition.

They will be up against their county sides in Berbice and Essequibo as well as a President’s XI from Thursday.
