National Border Patrol Coordinator, Daniel Seeram, was released from jail today after being handed a 13-month suspended sentence for assaulting his ex-wife.

The sentence was imposed by Magistrate Abigail Gibbs following Seeram’s conviction.

Under the terms of the suspended sentence, Seeram will not serve any additional jailtime. However, if he commits another offence during the 13-month period, he risks being sent to prison.

Seeram had been convicted of assaulting his former wife and remanded to prison until his sentencing hearing today.

When the charge was first reported in October 2023, Seeram was serving as Region Four Chairman and was an executive member of the PNC.

The charge arose from an incident on September 11, 2023, at the couple’s residence in Cummings Lodge, Greater Georgetown. Seeram was accused of assaulting his then-wife so as to cause her grievous bodily harm.

Seeram was also accused of brandishing a licensed firearm during the incident.
His then-wife subsequently reported the matter at the Turkeyen Police Station, leading to Seeram’s arrest and charge and conviction.
