The Guyana Police Force is investigating a murder which was initially reported as a missing-person matter involving Dailen Paneque Gómez, a 26-year-old Cuban national of Mon Repos, East Coast Demerara.
Paneque Gómez was reported missing after she was last seen during the early morning hours of Thursday June 18, 2026, while reportedly on her way to work.
Following sustained investigative work by detectives from CID Headquarters, her body was recovered in a decomposed state on Wednesday June 24, 2026, about 19:50hrs, in a clump of bushes on the East Coast Demerara.
A Police Constable has been arrested and is presently in custody assisting with the investigation.
Investigations are ongoing and further information will be provided as the investigation progresses. A detailed report will follow.
