A 33-year-old contractor was shot in his left thigh on Monday and relieved of a bag while sitting in a minibus at a traffic light at Conversation Tree Road, Bel Air, Georgetown.

Investigations revealed that the victim was seated in the front passenger seat of a motor bus, which had stopped at a traffic light, when two unidentified men approached on a black and red motorcycle.

The pillion rider reportedly dismounted, drew a handgun, and demanded the victim’s grey haversack, which contained personal documents. When the victim refused, the suspect allegedly discharged a round, striking him in his left thigh.

The suspect then took the haversack, after which both men escaped south along Conversation Tree Road.

The victim was taken for treatment at a private medical facility. His condition is listed as stable.

Detectives processed the scene and recovered a spent warhead from the front passenger seat of the motor bus. The motorcycle allegedly used during the robbery was later found abandoned. Investigations are ongoing.
