Construction worker charged with murder of US-based Guyanese at Coomacka Mines

Joel Harding, a 28-year-old construction worker and resident of Coomacka Mines, Upper Demerara River, was arrested on 1st September 2025 by a rank from Mackenzie Police Station and charged on Monday, 8th September 2025, with the offence of murder.

Harding was charged with the murder Courtney Evans, a 49-year-old US-based Guyanese businessman, which occurred on 31st August 2025 at Coomacka Mines.

The accused appeared at the Linden Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Ruschell Liverpool where the charge was read to him. He was not required to plead, and he was remanded to prison.

The matter was adjourned to 20th October 2025 for disclosure.
