City Constable pleads guilty to marijuana possession

[www.inewsguyana.com]Chief Magistrate Priya Sewnarine-Beharry on Thursday, December 12 fined a City Constable rank $3,000 together with six months community service for possession of narcotics.

Jermaine Fenty, 22, of Durban Street, Lodge Georgetown, pleaded guilty to the offence which stated that on December 11 at the Ferry Stelling, Stabroek, he had in his possession one gram of cannabis sativa (marijuana).

Police Prosecutor Bharat Mangru told the court that on the day in question at approximately 21:40hrs, the police on mobile patrol at the Ferry Service at Stabroek area caught the Constable rolling the leaves, seeds and stems into a cigarette format to smoke.
