[www.inewsguyana.com] – Twelve lucky persons will leave this year’s Kashif and Shanghai Secondary Schools Football Tournament with a cellular phone, compliments of Cell Phone Shack.
At a simple presentation ceremony on Wednesday, the company presented the mobile devices to co-director of the kashif and shanghai organization, Aubrey “Shanghai” Major.
Cell Phone Shack has been on board with the organization for the past 11 years and has committed to giving one lucky patron at every venue a chance to win a cellular phone.
The entity has also sponsored a large trophy that will be given to the player with the most goals in the competition.
The tournament, which kicks off on December 8 and will conclude with the grand final on New Year’s Day 2014, will feature 24 teams.
Schools from Georgetown, East Coast Demerara, West Demerara, East Bank Demerara, Linden, Berbice and Region Seven will participate.
The winning school will carry off $1.2 million, 75 percent of which will be used to finance a project identified by the school.
The second, third and fourth placed finishers will receive $750,000, $500,000 and $250,000, 25 percent of which will used for a project at those schools.
The most valuable player will be the recipient of a laptop, as well as a one-month stint with a top club in Trinidad and Tobago.
