Berbice Cricket Board honours former players

unnamed (4)[www.inewsguyana.com]The Berbice Cricket Board has honored six of the past greats of the ancient county under their new GPC Inc tribute to retired cricketers program.

The annual program honored George Paddy, Desmond Fraser, JaikarranBalchand, Jude Ram Kissoon, HemantJagdeoand MahadeoHatchmanen.

The ceremony which was held at the St Francis Community Developers head office is a part of the BCB’S diamond jubilee celebration.

According to the BCB Special Events Committee Chairman Hilbert Foster, the Board believes in honouring those who have done the sport great good in their time.

Jude Ram Kissoon was the Captain of the Sisters Cricket Club and an all –  rounder while  HemantJagdeo represented the upper Corentyne Area, and in 1984, represented Berbice at the inter county level.

MahadeoHatchmanen played for the Chesney Cricket Club in the 1980s as an all rounder; while Desmond Fraser was a fast bowling all rounder representing the Vikings cricket club and the RHTYSC in the 1990s.

George Paddy was a senior member of the then Guyana Cricket Team and ended his cricketing career in 1995 as Captain of the RHTY&SC second division team and JaikarranBalchanplayed for West Berbice area in the 1950s.

The BCB has to date honored close to 40 heroes under the tribute to retired cricketers programme.
