Barima farmer remanded on attempted murder charge

Twenty-six-year-old George Joseph, a fisherman from the Barima River in the North West District (NWD), Region One (Barima-Waini) was remanded to prison on Wednesday on an attempted murder charge.

Joseph was accused of committing the act against Sandra Dawson, 54, a farmer from the Barima River, North West District on Saturday last but was apprehended the following day.

He appeared before Magistrate Clive Nurse at the Mabaruma Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday and was not required to plead to the indictment. As such, he was remanded to prison and will make his next court appearance on February 7, 2026.
