[www.inewsguyana.com] – Bakewell has again come out in support of the Kashif and Shanghai Organization, this time for their schools tournament. General Manager of Bakewell Rajendranauth Ganga recently handed over sponsorship cheque for two days of the tournament for one day in Linden & one on the East Coast.
The funding will enable school children to go to the games free of cost according to K&S Director Kashif Mohamed.
Bakewell has been with the K&S Tournament for over 15 years. The tournament, which kicks off on December 8 and will conclude on New Year’s day 2014, will feature 24 teams.
Schools from the areas of Georgetown, East Coast Demerara, West Demerara, East Bank Demerara, Linden, Berbice and Region Seven will be competing for $1.2 million.
Seventy five percent of the winnings will be used to finance a project identified by the school.
The second, third and fourth placed finishers will receive $750,000, $500,000 and $250,000, 25 percent of which will used for a project at those schools.
The most valuable player will be the recipient of a laptop, as well as a one-month stint with a top club in Trinidad & Tobago.
