An arrest warrant has been issued for Police Lance Corporal Huford David by Magistrate Fabayo Azore.
The 36 – year – old cop of Sisters Village East Bank Berbice was expected to appear in court today for engaging in sexual activity with a 14 – year- old girl, however, he was a no – show.
It is alleged that in January of this year Lance Corporal David penetrated the teenage girl. On April 25 David was remanded to prison by the chief Magistrate Priya Beharry on a trafficking in person charge which stated that he took two under aged females to work in the Mazaruni.
After the case was called in the High Court, David was able to secure bail. However, David did not appear in court today to face the rape charge and as a result the arrest warrant has issued for him. The matter will be called again on September 16. [Royan Abrams]
