Agricola man shot, injured during suspected attempted robbery

[www.inewsguyana.com] – A Security Guard attached to Kaieteur News is now nursing a gunshot wound to his shoulder after two men armed with guns opened fire on him while in the company of another female.
Thirty – Four- year old Omar Bynoe of Agricola, East Bank Demerara said the incident occurred at about 05:00hrs Sunday morning, February 2.
The man related that he was able to drive himself to the hospital after he returned fire at the gunmen, chasing them away. He is believed to be a licensed firearm holder.
The shooting reportedly occurred in Middle Road La Penitence where Bynoe was dropping off the woman when two men approached the vehicle. He reportedly suspected that the men may have been up to something and began to drive instead of making the stop.
However, the gunmen caught up with them and and released one round which hit Bynoe to his shoulder.
Bynoe, who is a firearm holder returned fire chasing the gunmen away. It is unclear if any of them were injured.
Officials at the Georgetown Public Hospital say no other person or persons visited the institution with gunshot injuries. Checks at other city hospitals proved futile.
