The Guyana Defence Force (GDF) is conducting the Skill-at-Arms Course (SAAC) 2026-01 at the Colonel John Clarke Military School (CJCMS), Tacama in Region 10 (Upper Demerara-Berbice)

The six-week course commenced on July 16, 2026 and comprises 42 Junior and Senior Non-Commissioned Officers from various GDF units, together with a participant from the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force.

The course is designed to enhance proficiency in the employment of small arms and platoon weapons while developing the knowledge and skills required to serve as coaches for Stage 1–5 Battle Shot training. Through practical instruction, weapons handling and marksmanship training, participants are prepared to impart these skills effectively within their respective units.

This programme provides an opportunity to exchange knowledge, experience, and best practices between the GDF and the Antigua and Barbuda Defence Force. This engagement supports professional development and strengthens military cooperation between the two Forces.

The continued development of a highly proficient and adaptable Force is central to the GDF’s operational readiness and ability to fulfil its mandate. SAAC 2026-01 contributes to this objective while advancing interoperability and strengthening professional military relationships with regional partners.
