Phillips was arrested on July 20 and charged today at the Linden Magistrate’s Court.
He was not required to plead, bail was refused, and he was remanded to prison until August 28.
Pollydore, a teacher, was shot dead on July 19 during a wedding reception at a hotel at Central Amelia’s Ward, Linden.
Pollydore was a mother of three.
According to the police, the couple had been in a relationship for some time and were cohabiting, but Pollydore had separated from Phillips after enduring repeated physical abuse.
The victim and the suspect have a child together – a three-month old.
On the night in question, Phillips showed up at the wedding reception and confronted the woman, during which an argument ensued.
During the argument, Phillips pulled out a gun and shot the woman.
Pollydore then ran toward the pool area inside the hotel, but Phillips reportedly chased her and fired two more rounds. Pollydore collapsed and lay motionless on the floor.
Family members say despite a restraining order and ongoing complaints, Phillips allegedly continued to stalk Pollydore, showing up at her workplace, home, and other locations.
