President Dr Irfaan Ali has announced that the next People’s Progressive Party/Civic Government will give every Guyanese child in school $200,000 per school year.
“We are going to put in your children’s pockets an additional $200,000 every year at a minimum,” Ali announced at a rally in Lethem, Region Nine, today.
This includes $100,000 for the Because We Care Cash Grant, which has increased from the current $50,000. The other $100,000 would be the newly introduced transportation grant.
Together, these two initiatives will see the injection of some $40 billion annually into the nation’s children – $30 billion more than the current BWC cash grant costs.
According to the Head of State, the next PPP/C government will ensure these figures increase as the country earns more.
“All of these are our minimum positions…because once our economy performs at a higher than expected rate, then you can expect more benefits and expanded benefits coming to you and your children,” Ali declared.
