Two of the seven persons who were charged in connection with the October 2025 deadly gas station bombing in Georgetown were today freed after the court upheld a no-case submission.

The matter continued before Magistrate Alisha George at the Leonora Magistrates’ Court where the accused, Ramesh Pramdeo and Wayne Correia, were discharged by the court after their attorney argued that there was insufficient evidence to support the charges against them.

They had been charged with aiding and abetting the act of terrorism in connection with the October 2025 deadly bombing at a Mobil gas station in Georgetown.

Defence attorney Bernand DaSilva had contended that Pramdeo and Correia should have been treated as witnesses rather than accused persons in the matter.

A third accused, Jennifer Rodrigues, was committed to stand trial in the High Court.

Meanwhile, the other suspects’ case also continued today before acting Chief Magistrate Faith McGusty at the Georgetown Magistrates’ Court.

That matter involves the alleged mastermind, Venezuelan national, Daniel Alexander Ramirez Poedemo, who is jointly charged with Alexander Bettencourt, Johnny Boodram and Krystal La Cruz.

In court, Poedemo reiterated that he acted alone and urged the Court to free the other individuals on trial.

Poedemo initially claimed sole responsibility for the deadly attack during a court proceeding last month. Through an interpreter, Poedemo had indicated that he was willing to admit to the offence and stated that none of the other individuals charged in connection with the matter played any role in the incident.

Meanwhile, to move forward, the defence has to prepare a written report and submitted it to the prosecution.

After the report is submitted, it will be sent to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for review. The court has since a two-week timeline for the completion and submission of the report and the case was adjourned to May 20.

The October 26, 2025 attack at the Mobil Gas Station in Georgetown had resulted in the death of six-year-old Soraya Bourne.
