745g cannabis found during police operation at Mahdia

Police in Regional Division #8 (Potaro-Siparuni) are investigating the discovery of a quantity of suspected cannabis, which was found today (Saturday, May 30, 2026) between 05:10 hours and 05:50 hours during an operation conducted at School Street, Mahdia.

During the exercise, ranks conducted searches in the area, during which a large, bulky black plastic bag containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis was found concealed between two car tyres among shrubs and plants.

Further checks revealed two separate bulky black plastic bags, along with one transparent plastic bag containing several small transparent zip-lock parcels, all containing leaves, seeds and stems suspected to be cannabis.

The suspected cannabis was taken to the Mahdia Police Station, where it was weighed and amounted to 745 grams before being lodged.

No arrest was made. Investigations are ongoing.
