Two fishermen are missing after the fishing vessel they were travelling in reportedly sank amid heavy winds and rough sea conditions off the coast of Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) on Wednesday.

According to initial reports, the boat encountered high waves and turbulent weather, causing it to capsize and forcing the occupants into the water.

One fisherman managed to swim safely to shore after abandoning the vessel and its engine, both of which were lost at sea.

The two other fishermen remain unaccounted for, prompting a search and rescue operation.
