A 49-year-old woman died on Wednesday evening when a vehicle attempting to overtake another crashed head-on into the car in which she was travelling along the Coverden Public Road, East Bank Demerara (EBD).
Dead is Cheryl Skeete of Soesdyke, EBD, who was a passenger in motorcar PAM 6733, which was being driven by another 49-year-old woman.
Police said at around 18:45hrs, Skeete’s vehicle was travelling south along the roadway when motorcar PAM 2468, which was heading north, attempted to overtake another vehicle and collided head-on with her car.
As a result of the accident, both vehicles received extensive damage. Skeete was examined by Emergency Medical Technicians and pronounced dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, the drivers of both vehicles were taken to the Diamond Regional Hospital for treatment.
