West Bank resident granted bail for allegedly beating man with wire

Copy of DSC05118Thirty – three – year old Andel Daniels of 19 Goed Intent, West Bank Demerara was before the court for assault causing actual bodily harm when he appeared before Magistrate Faith Mc Gusty.

Daniels pleaded guilty with an explanation to the charge but a not guilty plea was entered for him by the Magistrate based on his explanation. It is alleged that on August 19 at King Street Georgetown, he assaulted Roy Williams. When he was given the opportunity to speak, the accused told the court that the complainant attacked him first and in return, he armed himself with a piece of wire and dealt the complainant several lashes about the body.

The Magistrate then granted the accused bail in the sum of $25,000 with his next court date set for September 03. [Royan Abrams]
