Prominent supporter of the A Partnership for National Unity (APNU) Nia Gonsalves – who once served as an executive member of the PNC’s youth arm – is urging the party to accept the results of Monday’s General and Regional Elections.
Gonsalves also expressed the ongoing recount exercise will not change the outcome of the polls.
“As an APNU supporter, I know this loss is disappointing. Some have raised concerns about discrepancies in the vote count but I don’t believe they are enough to change the overall outcome. A recount may be part of the process, but at this point, I think we need to accept the results, acknowledge the winner, and move on as a country,” she noted in a social media post.
“The fight for a better Guyana doesn’t end here, it continues. Dragging this out any longer is only keeping us stuck,” she further expressed.

Results from Monday’s elections for all ten voting districts across the country have been declared.
Based on the declared results, the PPP/C has won the elections.
According to the declarations, the PPP/C earned 242,498 votes. This represents an impressive lead of over 100,000 votes over its nearest political rival, the We Invest in Nationhood (WIN) party, which secured 109,066 votes.
The APNU, which contested independently at this year’s polls, only managed to gain 77,998 votes while AFC earned 3,610 votes.
