Victoria farmer gets bail on simple larceny charges

Twenty-four-year-old Osafo Blackette, also known as ‘Shine Shoes,’ a farmer from Victoria, East Coast Demerara (ECD), was granted bail after he was slapped with two counts of simple larceny.

Blackette, who was arrested on Tuesday, January 6, 2026, was accused of committing the offenses between January 5 and January 6, 2026, at Belfield, East Coast Demerara, against Rakesh Sanicharra, a 32-year-old businessman from Zeelugt, East Bank Essequibo (EBE), and Narine Gobin, a 46-year-old businessman from Naamryck.

However, Blackette appeared before Magistrate Sunil Scare at the Vigilance Magistrate’s Court, where the charges were read to him.

He pleaded not guilty and was granted $75,000 bail on each count and will make his next court appearance on March 11, 2026.
