Venezuelans who illegally arrived in Guyana denied entry, deported

Some of the Venezuelans, who entered Guyana illegal on March 10, were deported the following day

The boatload of Venezuelans who illegally arrived in the country on Monday at the Abraham Zuil beach along the Essequibo Coast, Region Two (Pomeroon-Supenaam) have been deported, except for those with familial ties to Guyana.

A total of 75 persons including nine children arrived in a boat measuring 45ft by 8ft, powered by two 75hp Yamaha outboard engines.

After they were intercepted by local law enforcement authorities, the migrants were placed in an institution and provided with basic necessities including food.

Following a screening process, those without familial ties to Guyana were deported to their country of origin.
