Triumph man gets $150K bail for causing death of pedestrian

Twenty-nine-year-old Royden Daniels from Republic Drive Triumph, East Coast Demerara (ECD) was arrested on Saturday, June 7, 2025 and subsequently charged with causing the death of 52-year-old, Antonio Ignatius also of Triumph.

Daniels appeared at the Sparendaam Magistrate’s Court before Magistrate Clive Nurse and pleaded not guilty to the charge when it was read to him. As such, he was granted bail in the sum of $150,000 bail and he is expected to return to court on July 3, 2025.

It was reported that Daniels was driving motorcar, PAH 5305 along Agriculture Road, ECD at a fast rate when it is alleged that Ignatius suddenly walked across the road and into the path of his motorcar.

As a result, Ignatius was flung into the air, fell onto the road surface, and sustain injuries to his body. He was pronounced dead at the scene by Emergency Medical Technicians.
