Candidates for the Peoples Progressive Party Civic (PPP/C) took the stage this afternoon at Lusignan, East Coast Demerara (ECD) as they rallied support for the party at its grand and final rally before the General and Regional Elections on Monday.
Among the speakers was Alfonso De Armas, a Georgetown City Councillor, who emphasised that his lived experiences have thought him that “track record matters”, and when he compares the previous APNU+AFC administration with the PPP/C, he knows the clear choice of leaders to take the country forward – the PPP/C
“I don’t stand here out of blind loyalty,” he noted.
Josh Kanhai, a youth leader, urged young voters to take these elections seriously by reflecting on the opportunities they now have as a result of direct policies and plans implemented by the PPP/C.
He pointed to opportunities in education such as free university education and “scholarships galore”.
Kanhai also spoke about the party’s ability to unite the country, expressing that “they are going to continue doing that for the next five years”.
Meanwhile, Imam Naeem Barlow spoke to his colleagues who are still undecided, urging him to look at their past, present and future. According to Barlow, voters should carefully assess the progress taking place across the country and vote for this development to continue.
He urged that they wake up early and vote on Monday.
