Taxi driver who looted from Da Silva’s during fire granted bail

Forty – year – old taxi driver, Troy Burrows appeared before Chief Magistrate Priya Beharry and pleaded not guilty to the offence of simple larceny.

Borrows of West Ruimveldt, Georgetown is accused of stealing several articles totaling $120,000 property of Da Silva’s House of Optics on September 1 at Middle Street.

At the time of the offence, the building was engulfed in flames. Based on the information presented in court, the Chief Magistrate granted the accused bail in the sum of $100,000 and he is to return to court on October 01. [Royan Abrams]
