A taxi driver was remanded to prison today when he appeared before Magistrate Fabayo Azore. Twenty – seven – year old Joseph Williams of Gordon Street Kitty, Georgetown was not required to plead to the capital offence of murder.

It is alleged that on July 08 at Water Street Kingston, Georgetown he murdered Victor Da Silva and stole $8M, property of Cecil Gajadar.

The Police Prosecutor asked for two weeks for the files to be ready. The Magistrate refused bail and Williams will reappear in court on July 18.

Victor Da Silva was shot dead while his friend Cecil Gajadar sustained a gunshot wound to the side of his face when they were attacked by three gunmen at High and Cowan Streets.

Da Silva was at the time heading to a Water Street Bank with a bag containing the money. [Royan Abrams]
